General points for both boys and girls

  • ‘High street’ trousers for girls and boys are acceptable provided they match the colour and style of the regulation trouser. Skinny fitting styles, or trousers made from non-woven stretch materials, are not allowed.  If worn, belts should be plain black with no designer branding.
  • ‘High street’ skirts for girls are also acceptable provided they closely match the colour and style of the regulation skirt. Skirts made from non-woven stretch material, or fashion skirts with slits are not allowed.
  • Tops with zips, sweatshirts or hooded tops of any sort may not be worn at any time.  Hats and scarves should only be worn in severe weather.
  • Jewellery should not be worn and will be confiscated if seen. For pierced ears, one small plain studs in the lower part of each ear may be worn, but these should be removed for PE and Games. Jewellery with a conventional religious significance - e.g. a necklace with a religious symbol, is permitted if worn discretely. Nose studs are not allowed to be worn in school.
  • Watches may be worn in school except for PE and Games lessons. The school regrettably cannot accept responsibility for loss.
  • Personal appearance – there should be no extremes of hairstyle or colour. Hair styles in all year groups should conform to the conventional expectations of a formal school environment. Extremes of styles, including excessively short or cropped finishes, abrupt contrasts of hair length, or shaved areas with lines or patterns, are not permitted. Long hair may be worn loose, but should be tied back for practical lessons such as Science and Technology.  Facial hair should be short and neatly trimmed unless permission has been granted by the Headteacher on established religious grounds.
  • Hair coverings such as turbans or headscarves are allowed where required for established religious reasons; these should preferably be black in colour.  Head coverings which partially or fully obscure the face are not permitted.
  • Fingernails should be short and nail extensions of any kind may not be worn.  Coloured nail varnish is not permitted; any student found to be wearing this will be asked to remove it immediately.
  • No obvious makeup should be worn. Students are not permitted to wear lipstick, eye liner, eye shadow or false eyelashes.
  • Plain headbands to hold back long hair are acceptable in appropriate school colours (preferably black, dark green)
