The programme was created by the school in order to support potential Oxbridge candidates and help them gain an idea of what it is like to live and study at Oxford and Cambridge.
When we arrived we had a presentation by the College's Schools Liason Office. This gave us an insight into the application process, and the various tests and interviews that the two universities use to select potential applicants. We were also informed how the universities operate as a collection of colleges.
Next, we were taken on a tour of Brasenose by current students. One of our number was, “Very impressed and surprised at the sheer range of facilities available for both study and fun”. We had opportunity to find out more about the courses we were were interested in and ask questions of the undergraduates about what it was like to study at Oxford. We also met up with two former LGS students who are currently studying at the university. It was interesting to get their perspective too.
Finally, after enjoying a "surprisingly good" lunch, and a tour of the city, we headed back to school.
All in all we enjoyed the trip and considered it to be a “useful day” and one that would help us in making decisions about live beyond LGS in higher education.
