During Years 7-8 the following topics are covered

  • Saying what you do at home
  • Future holiday plans
  • Revision of key verbs

 

GCSE

Students studying the subject at GCSE follow the AQA specification. During the course the following topics are covered.

Year 9

Schools:

  • Opinions of subjects, describing the school and the school day
  • Differences between schools in Germany and UK
  • School rules with modal verbs
  • School uniform
  • Describing a future school trip

Term 2

  • Free time, music and film
  • Introduction to the perfect tense

Term 3

  • Festivals and customs in Germany
  • Sport – likes and dislikes, describing sports you have done and will do

Term 1

  • Technology: including description of phone, uses of social media, advantages and disadvantages of technology.
  • World of celebrities – including description of your role model
  • How and why people become famous, advantages and disadvantages of being famous

Term 2

  • Describing where people live
  • Holidays – saying where you have been and where you want to go to
  • Advantages and disadvantages of tourism

Term 3

  • Healthy Living – link to sport from Year 9
  • Also importance of a healthy diet
  • Discussion on healthy living issues such as alcohol, drugs and smoking

Term 1

  • School and work place
  • opinions of subjects, describing the school and the school day
  • Differences between schools in Germany and UK
  • School rules with modal verbs

  • A school trip in the past tense
  • Saying what job you would and why
  • Advantages and disadvantages of going to university.

Term 2

  • Future family plans
  • Including the advantages and disadvantages of marriage
